Context & Challenge

Instituto Piabanha was founded with the mission of protecting and preserving the biodiversity of the Paraíba do Sul River basin. In addition to ensuring the survival of endangered species such as Grumatã, Surubim do Paraíba, and, above all, Piabanha, the goal is to ensure that they thrive, preserving environmental balance and the future of coming generations. The challenge was to translate this important cause into a clear and engaging identity that communicated not only science and conservation, but also closeness, inspiration, and social mobilization.

Diagnosis

The analysis revealed the need for friendly communication while still conveying the brand’s scientific rigor. The Institute’s work goes far beyond the living genetic bank—the largest in the Paraíba do Sul basin—and responsible restocking: it inspires a sense of belonging and invites society to take on its role in preserving the river. It was essential to create an identity that conveyed trust and innovation without losing its human and collective aspect.

Strategy

The chosen creative path was Contemporary Strokes, which brings fluidity and naturalness in a modern visual language. The proposal involved creating a symbol and a logo that coexist harmoniously, allowing the symbol to be used independently when needed. The movement suggested by the strokes refers to the flow of the Paraíba do Sul River and conveys the naturalness that guides the Institute’s work.

Language

The Instituto Piabanha symbol is the result of integrating three visual pillars: the river, as a representation of the flow of life and ecological connection; DNA, a central element in scientific work and the genetic preservation of species; and Piabanha itself, the species that gives the Institute its name and symbolizes its greater cause. This synthesis creates a versatile, contemporary brand full of meaning, aligned with the values of authenticity, resilience, innovation, and determination.
